Q&A With The Fresno Grizzlies

What role do the Fresno Grizzlies play in the Central Valley community?

The Fresno Grizzlies believe that it is our duty to uplift our community wherever possible. Whether it is putting on any of our 100+ events each year or partnering with local companies and organizations, the Grizzlies are committed to providing unique, beneficial experiences for the Central Valley.

What makes Chukchansi Park such a unique and special venue for Fresno?

As one of the largest venues in the Central Valley, Chukchansi Park has the ability to attract nationally headlining names and events, continuously bringing top entertainment to Fresno. Alongside the various concerts and entertainment at the stadium, Chukchansi Park hosts a multitude of community events throughout the year, often opening its doors for local nonprofits and educational activations.

How do the Grizzlies support youth and families in the community?

The Grizzlies are deeply committed to supporting families and youth in the community through our school programs and partnerships. The organization hosts two separate educational programs every season: Wild About Reading, which impacts over 200 schools around the Valley, encouraging students to read for the opportunity to win free tickets, and Making the Grade, which works directly with schools to invite students out to a day baseball game featuring educational programming. Our partnerships with Not All Heroes Wear Capes, CASA of Fresno & Madera County, and more!

What’s one game, event, or initiative you’re most proud of hosting in Fresno?

Now in its 14th year, Taco Truck Throwdown has become a staple of our community. This unique event that draws people from around the United States gives 60+ local vendors and small business owners the ability to engage with the community while enjoying the Valley's tacos. The opportunity to use our platform to uplift our community is something we are extremely proud of and one of the main missions of our organization.

What advice would you give to young professionals about building community pride in Fresno?

Go to events! Whether it’s Art Hop or Farmer’s Markets or Taco Truck Throwdown, there are so many amazing things constantly happening in Fresno. By supporting live events and gatherings, you will quickly learn that there are countless hardworking and creative businesses and individuals all around us and that Fresno is truly a special place.

How does the Grizzlies organization invest in leadership and growth for your team?

The Grizzlies and our ownership, Diamond Baseball Holdings, are constantly looking for ways to level up our teams. Whether through conferences, collaborative efforts with other Minor League Baseball teams, or memberships in organizations like FLYP, employees are offered numerous opportunities throughout the year to grow.

What’s something surprising people might not know about the Grizzlies or minor league baseball?

One of the most unique opportunities we have on the baseball side of our organization is introducing the Central Valley to fans and players from around the world. Most of our players are just starting their professional careers and our roster consistently carries many players who are not from the United States. The fact that not only their first professional baseball experiences are in Fresno, but their first experiences in America are here in the Central Valley, is something very special to us, and we are proud to be able to be the first stop in these players’ journeys to Major League Baseball.

Why was it important for the Fresno Grizzlies to become a corporate member of FLYP?

The Fresno Grizzlies are always proud to support the next wave of professionals in our community. By being a FLYP Corporate Member, we are thrilled to be able to help provide resources to our community and benefit such an incredible, impactful organization

Is there anything specific you’d like us to feature (upcoming events, community initiatives, special programs)?

Opening Day is April 7th!
