Q&A With Owner of Better Together Mental Health Services, Eunice Uribes, LCSW
What inspired the founding of Better Together, and what community need were you aiming to meet?
Better Together was born out of a desire to create a safe and welcoming space where people could be seen, heard, and supported—especially when facing life’s hardest challenges. As a therapist and community member, I saw how many individuals and families were silently struggling with trauma, anxiety, grief, and disconnection and didn't have a safe space to heal. Our goal was to provide high-quality, compassionate mental health care that breaks the stigma and reaches people where they are. We also wanted to build something that felt different—not clinical or cold, but warm, comfortable, and truly human. Furthermore, I wanted to create a space where people could connect with others and truly know that they don't have to do life alone.
How would you summarize your mission and core values at Better Together?
Our mission is to help people heal, grow, and connect—both with themselves and with others. We believe healing happens in safe relationships and that therapy is a sacred space where transformation can begin. We value compassion, integrity, collaboration, faith, and whole-person healing. Whether we're sitting with someone in deep pain or celebrating a breakthrough moment, we’re committed to walking alongside our clients with gentleness and truth. We recognize that people are not defined by their symptoms or stories but by their strength, resilience, and capacity to grow.
Can you share a success story that captures the heart of Better Together’s impact?
One story that stays with me is of a young adult who came to us feeling completely overwhelmed by anxiety, depression and shame from past trauma. They struggled to trust anyone and felt hopeless about their future. Over time, with consistent support and a safe therapeutic relationship, they began to open up, set healthy boundaries, truly heal and even rediscover their purpose. They now mentor others in their community, are a light to their family/friends and have pursued dreams that they had given up on. Watching someone go from surviving to thriving—that’s the heart of our work.
Are there any exciting developments on the horizon for Better Together that you’d like to share with the FLYP community?
Yes! We’re expanding our services to include more group therapy, workshops, and community events focused on mental wellness. I will also be hosting events for pre-licensed therapists to help grow the next generation of ethical, compassionate clinicians. And we're actively working to create more collaborations with schools, churches, and nonprofits to make therapy more accessible.
What advice would you give other organizations working to create meaningful community impact?
Start with genuine relationships. Don’t underestimate the power of listening and showing up consistently. Impact doesn’t always happen through big events—it often starts in small, faithful acts of service. Also, stay rooted in your “why.” When challenges come (and they will), your purpose and faith will anchor you.
Are there opportunities within Better Together for FLYP members to get involved—through volunteering, mentoring, or partnerships?
Absolutely! We’re always looking for people who are passionate about mental health, community wellness, and advocacy. FLYP members can collaborate with us through speaking opportunities, workshops, event partnerships, and content creation around wellness and mindset. We'd love to partner with other values-aligned professionals looking to make a difference.
Better Together emphasizes unity and collaboration—how do you see your work aligning with FLYP’s mission of empowering young professionals to create community impact?
We believe that healing and impact don’t happen in isolation—they happen in community. Just like FLYP, we’re passionate about equipping people to lead well, serve authentically, and lift others as they grow. By creating safe spaces, offering psychoeducation, and de-stigmatizing mental health, we’re helping young professionals live more grounded, purpose-filled lives—so they can, in turn, transform their communities. I always remind clients that we can't pour from an empty cup; we need to take care of ourselves first in order to help others.
