Professional Development

A primary goal of Fresno’s Leading Young Professionals is to develop the region’s young professionals by offering opportunities to sharpen their career skills. FLYP offers a number of educational and leadership development programs from ranging from mentor programs and workshops to seminars and conferences.

LEAD programs include:

  • Professional Development Workshop Series: Offered quarterly, these workshops feature a variety of topics that are important to young professionals as they develop career skills. Previous workshops have consisted of topics such as Social Media, Entrepreneurship and Investing.
  • Mentoring Program: FLYP is excited to announce the first mentoring program in Fresno offered to young professionals in partnership with the Downtown Fresno Rotary. Selected FLYP members are matched with industry specific mentors from the Downtown Fresno Rotary for a year-long commitment, consisting of four hours per month. The goal of the program is to help FLYP members develop into Fresno’s future leaders by engaging in the community through relationships with seasoned professionals, knowlegdgeable and connected to their specific industry.
  • Downtown Academy: Offered every other year, the Downtown Academy is geared toward FLYP members with expressed interest in Downtown Revitalization and have a desire to take a hands on approach. This eight-month program consists of one class per month covering all aspects of revitalization, with topics that topics vary from housing and business development, to the Downtown Specific Plan and PBID. Each Academy class works together on a final class project and takes a trip to Santa Monica to learn about its revitalized downtown area.
