Many unemployed individuals are caught in a catch-22 situation when trying to enter the workforce: without a job, how can you afford a suit? But without a suit, how can you get a job?Fresno’s Leading Young Professionals is attempting to help tackle this hurdle by donating professional dress clothing to individ…uals who are out of work and attempting to secure a job in our community and you can help make a difference!

We will be collecting professional clothing over the next four weeks to be handed out to individuals in need within the Fresno community. If you have men’s or women’s professional clothing we will take them! Dress shirts, slacks, suits, blazers, blouses, ties, belts, skirts, sweaters…anything of professional nature can assist in helping someone looking their best for a job interview.

Bring your clothing items to one of the FLYP Mixers on October 19th at Eureka Burger and November 9th at Daily Grill from 5:30-7:30pm or contact Derek Abbott (559-709-4432 or dabbott@flypinfo.com) to arrange drop off/pick up outside of these times.

Thursday, December 17, is a big day for Downtown Fresno, with the City Council set to consider several key steps in the revitalization process. Among the top issues:(1) The contract to develop new land use “plans” (really they’re laws) for Downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. (2)A package of downtown development incentives based on the deferral of City impact fees. Let your voice be heard!

The Fresno MET is having their Science of Wine series this Thursday Dec 10th @ 6pm, and it focuses on the wines of the San Joaquin Valley. Tickets are $25 each, and seats are limited. Call 559-441-1444 to reserve your spot.
